Ltd. on 7 February 2025. The topic for the Panel discussion was Gamification in Education and Knowledge Systems. \nConference was attended by about 100+ Faculty and Students across India.\nVineet Raj Kapoor (IDT Lead Expert Worldskills representing India\, and Founder SXILL and Chandigarh Design School) while sharing valuable insights into Gamification\, he said\,”Gamification is often used an excuse to micromanage learning. It defeats the entire purpose of gamification. Rather one should always be mindful of the core attributes of Gamification like Volunteerism\, Choices\, Willingness\, etc. He also said that the Game Mechanics should be very simple and consist of very few elements like in Chess\, or sports like Badminton. He said the Leaderboards and Feedbacks were the Killer Features of Gamification and should be implemented in the right manner for engagement to happen. Right to Learn is a great concept that I have often used to bring determination to the table. Story is an optional feature\, but used well\, it can enhance the quality of learning. DESCRIPTION:Chandigarh Design School Founder Vineet Raj Kapoor was at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET)\, Panjab University Chandigarh on January 17\, 2025 to mentor and guide students from across various technical colleges attending the 3 Day Workshop on AI\, CAD and Robotics happening at UIET from 15-17 January\, 2025.\nUIET AI CAD Robotics Workshop\nThe workshop on “Hands-On AI\, CAD Modeling\, and Robotics for Advanced Engineering Solutions” was organised by the Sensor Energy and Automation Lab (SEAL)\, UIET under the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s (MHRD) SPARC initiative\, Government of India. \nThe workshop was coordinated by Dr. Gaurav Sapra\, Professor Rajesh Kumar\, and Dr. Garima Joshi from UIET in collaboration with Dr. Ankur Gupta from the Department of Cardiology\, PGIMER\, and Professor Mohsen Rahmani and Dr.Cuifeng Ying from Nottingham Trent University (NTU)\, UK. \nVineet Raj Kapoor\, India’s Expert on Industrial Design Technology for Worldskills apprised the students on various aspects on Worldskills while providing tips to students on how to prepare for the same. The students were given guidance on stages of IDT competition at Worldskills 2024 held at Groupama\, Lyon\, France. He shared the kind of preparation that competitors do to come out on top. He also guided them about the Indiaskills and the selection process stages right from district and state to regional and national competitions held by NSDC. We trained them in various approaches to Design Thinking\, and especially sensitized and trained them the toughest field of empathetic thinking\, since that is what most UX Designers in India lack. Being a practitioner and trainer of UX Design and Design Thinking since 2014\, I was aware of the huge gap between theory and practice that exists in India even in the top institutes. The Faculty Development Program happened on 6 December 2024. We took care to equip them with enough examples and cases of Storytelling as well as for Innovation and Entrepreneurship\, in a manner that they are able to retain the information and put it in perspective since Design Thinking is a complex subject and is largely misrepresented. We trained them in various approaches to Design Thinking\, and especially sensitized and trained them in the toughest field of empathetic thinking\, since that is what most UX Designers in India lack. Being a practitioner and trainer of UX Design and Design Thinking since 2014\, I feel responsible for the state of UIUX Design in India. Despite our best efforts\, a large swathe of Industry as well as trainers are unaware of the possibilities of UX Design and think about it as a burden. DESCRIPTION:ACE Fair was held on 26-29 September 2024 at Kimdaejung Centre\, Gwangju\, South Korea.  \nIndian Delegation City Tour ACE Fair Gwangju South Korea\nThe Indian Delegation led by Vineet Raj Kapoor (Founder SXILL & Chandigarh Design School) had delegates from Media Guru\, Mumbai (Subhashish Mazumdar)\, Powertoons\, Hyderabad (Ashish Saxena)\, MESC India\, New Delhi (Roshni Sehgal)\, Mugafi\, Mumbai (Vipul Aggarwal & Tansha Batra)\, Elle Animation\, Bhubhaneshwar (Chandrashekhar Bhuyan & Santosh Reddy)\, Ssoftoons Entertainment and Media\, Kolkata (Hansa & Sourav Mondal)\, Just VFX\, Hyderabad (Sridhar Reddy)\, Snipix\, Hyderabad (Chilamkurthi Vamsi)\, Start Animation\, Hyderabad (Rakesh) and Khaja Vali (TVAGA\, Hyderabad) were part of the large delegation from India by Virtualsoft. Other Indian studios were Bhasinsoft Studios\, Alliance Studios\, Aha\, and Crossover Studios.  \nTVAGA pavillion was part of the Indian delegation and helped smaller Studios from Telengana showcase their work and get exposure about international markets. Indians represented one of the largest International contingents at ACE Fair this time.  \nStart Animation Studios\, India signed an MoU with an International Studio on 27 Sep\, 2024 during the MoU signing ceremony.  \nThe Studios had between 12-20 pre-arranged B2B meetings each. Each participating studio was picked up (and dropped back) from Incheon Airport\, Seoul and provided with a full time interpreter as well as a free ticket to the CDC Conference. They were also invited to a grand welcome party on the opening day.  \nOn Day 3\, the Studios were all invited to a city tour to Gwangju Biennale\, and after a sumptuous Bibimbap lunch at a traditional Korean restaurant went to visit Yangnim Dong Culture Village.  \nThe night time was a time of bonding with other Indian Studios and helped them understand each other’s capabilities and possibilities of collaboration.  \n“Our visit to the ACE Fair 2024 in Gwangju\, Korea\, was nothing short of exceptional. The Indian Candidate Abhin Mittal finished in 5th Position in Industrial Design Technology at Worldskills France. \nThe Skill Management Team is formed of select experts from different nations\, and they collaborate to work towards having a successful Worldskills competition. They are involved in various aspect of the conduction of the Skill Competition. The current Skill Management Team in Worldskills IDT consists of Experts from China\, Taiwan\, Korea and India. During the Competition he was also proposed as Chief Expert for the next Worldskills for which elections would be held. \nHe attended every meeting at the WSI France\, and contributed positively to every meeting and well as brought forth important ideas which were implemented to ensure smooth conduct of the competition. The current CE both liked and welcomed his ideas and implemented them right away. Whenever there was an issue with the marking scheme\, he contributed proactively instead of waiting for it to peter out. He even brought serious issues to attention of the CCD without disrupting the competition or demanding immediate resolve\, since he understands that slips can happen\, and the idea is to improve. \nHe personally motivated and encouraged each of the IDT competitors and handled them calmly during issues. \nWorldskills – LRDC Statium Lyon France\nPost competition\, he provided prompt feedback and wrote a detailed mail as well as prepared a presentation to share the issues so that we can improve in future. \nHe has been to World’s Top Design Colleges including Sheridan College\, Canada\, Gobelins\, France\, NUST MISIS\, Russia\, as well as Konkuk University\, Kyung Hee University and others at South Korea and understands the difference in practices across the world\, and have the sensitivity to deal with it. Currently he runs his own design studio\, as well as training institute and have also been in touch with a lot of students and teachers from across the world\, often exchanging ideas and advice. \nHe has been the Founding Dean at Chitkara Design School (2016-2023). He was lauded for the exemplary work done by him in Worldskills International Invitational Competition in China. \nInternational (Shenzhen) Invitational Competition is part of the preparation for Worldskills that is being held in September 2024 at Lyon France. \nFounded in 1950\, WorldSkills is the global hub for skills excellence and development. WorldSkills brings youth\, industries\, and educators together to give youth the chance to compete\, experience\, and learn how to become the best in their skill of choice. From the traditional trades to multi-skilled technology careers in the industry and service sectors\, supported by partners\, industries\, governments\, volunteers\, and educational institutions\, WorldSkills’ vision is to improve the world through the power of skills. It has 85 member countries and regions\, all working with youth\, educators\, governments\, and industries to help prepare the workforce and talent of today for the jobs of the future. \nIndiaSkills 2023 National Competition was held from 16-18 May 2024 at Yashobhoomi\, Dwarka\, New Delhi. Participants from 26 states/ union territories displayed their talent in 54 skills such as design\, graphics\, beauty therapy\, cyber security\, floristry robot system integration\, cloud computing\, water technology\, painting and decorating\, health and social care\, among others. The candidates will compete against more than 1\,400 participants from over 60 countries competing in 63 skills. A biennial competition\, WorldSkills Competition has become popular over the years and is a global hub for skill excellence\, bringing together skilled youth of diverse backgrounds and nations. \nIndiaSkills Competition is organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)\, an apex skill development organisation working under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). IndiaSkills\, the country’s biggest skill competition\, is designed to demonstrate the highest standards of skilling and offers a platform to young people to showcase their talent at national and international levels. IndiaSkills Competition—regional and national—is held every two years with the support of state governments\, industry\, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs)\, State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs)\, corporates and partner institutes. IndiaSkills Competition has the potential to reach the grassroot level and make an impact. \nWorldskills 2024 would take place at Lyon\, France from 10-15 September 2024. India is sending a contingent of about 60 candidates and 50 experts to compete for the Gold\, Silver and Bronze Medals. This contingent would be attending a farewell at Delhi on 3 September. \nSpeaking on the success\, the SXILL Founder Vineet Raj Kapoor\, and National Jury and Expert (Industrial Design) for Worldskills said “I am thankful to MESC India for providing me the opportunity to serve the country as Skill Competition Manager and Chief Expert (India) for IDT\, and finally as India’s Expert for Industrial Design Technology at Worldskills\, Lyon\, France in September 2024”. \nNeelu Kapoor shared\, “At SXILL the Students have the opportunity to choose from a range of skills including Graphic Design\, Film Making\, UI/UX Design\, Animation\, 3D Modelling\, Digital Marketing\, and a chance for upward mobility through upskilling for top performers. After providing our expertise in animation to faculty and students in leading colleges like Thapar University\, DY Patil\, PEC\, Chitkara\, Panjab University\, GNDU etc.\, we have now opened it to students from all institutes. We have trained students from NID\, MIT and other institutes for Government Skill Councils and Missions under Skill India. We are also conducting programs in Design Thinking with leading international institutes abroad”.

This would be a great step for India’s Design Community into International Education.
