Chandigarh Design School delivers Design Thinking Course at Panjab University

CSDE SEC Design Thinking Valedictory Function

Chandigarh Design School trained a select group of Panjab University students in Design Thinking for CSDE, DIC and IIC lead Design Thinking Course for students across Panjab University including MBA and Engineering Students. This program was conducted from 7-20 December 2024 at CSDE, Sec 25, Panjab University. It was attended by more than 30 students across Panjab University.

Vineet Raj Kapoor (Lead Expert IDT Worldskills, and Founder SXILL and Chandigarh Design School) shared “Training students from Panjab University was a wonderful opportunity. We trained them in various approaches to Design Thinking, and especially sensitized and trained them the toughest field of empathetic thinking, since that is what most UX Designers in India lack. Being a practitioner and trainer of UX Design and Design Thinking since 2014, I was aware of the huge gap between theory and practice that exists in India even in the top institutes. So we focused on problem finding right from the start, and also about developing personas, and taking it from there to concept design, while passing through various phases like user journey mapping and other steps.” He quipped, “Don’t worry all this would be part of my upcoming book – SOLVXD: Think in Steps – that would be coming out soon.

The students of the cohort were asked to work on the current problem faced by Panjab University Students and PGIMER Patients, of the PGI-PU crossing. The Chief Guest at the Valedictory, ex Vice Chancellor Panjab University Prof. Grover lauded the Design Thinking Course by Chandigarh Design School by saying, “The students have worked on a very relevant problem and the country needs more such programs which make them problem solvers. He commented on how education moved away from relevance in recent times, and the need to bring it back on track by such programs. This program should be taught to at least 6000 students every year.”

Arya Kalia, an MBA student of University Business School, Panjab University, who attended the course, stated that, “I gained a lot from this course. Vineet Sir’s examples were very relevant and helped us understand the fundamentals in depth with clarity.”

Ashman Kaur Kohli, another student from MBA, mentioned “I personally gained a lot from Vineet Sir’s Sessions and I shall be using these learning in my professional as well as personal life.”

Neelu Kapoor (Indiaskills Graphic Design Technology Jury) and Founder SXILL mentioned, “This was the first time Chandigarh Design School tendered a semester long Creative Thinking for Professional Success course, and we are quite excited by the quality of the assignments by the talented students of Thapar. Before this we had tendered Faculty Development Program at Chitkara, which was also highly appreciated by the CSE Faculty who were part of the FDP.”

Vineet Raj Kapoor (Indian IDT Lead Expert Worldskills, and Founder SXILL and Chandigarh Design School) shared “Training the employees of Circulants USA was a wonderful opportunity since it was our first Offline Corporate Training in Design Thinking after COVID. We trained them in various approaches to solve problems keeping the Human Factors in mind while not compromising on the business side of design.

Sanjay Koshathwar, Founder at Circulants, said, “Vineet is brilliant when it comes to Design Thinking. I have rarely seen another Indian who is as sharp with Design and Business. Neelu Kapoor (Indiaskills Graphic Design Technology Jury) and Founder SXILL mentioned, “This was the first time Chandigarh Design School tendered an Offline Workshop in Design Thinking at Circulants, and we are quite excited by the quality of the staff at Circulants. Before this we had tendered Faculty Development Program at Chitkara, Pune University, Thapar University as well as student sessions for DY Patil University, Panjab University, Thapar University, BITS Pilani and others.”

Design Thinking FDP at Pune University by Vineet Raj Kapoor

Chandigarh Design School Founder Vineet Raj Kapoor trained a select group of Pune University Faculty in Design Thinking. He took the important sessions on Design Thinking for “Impact of Storytelling” and “Case Studies – Innovation and Entrepreneurship”. The FDP was attended by 45 Faculty across Pune University. The FDP was held at ASSIM Engineering College, Pune.

Vineet Raj Kapoor (IDT Lead Expert Worldskills representing India, and Founder SXILL and Chandigarh Design School) shared “Training Faculty from Pune University was a wonderful opportunity. The Faculty Development Program happened on 6 December 2024. We took care to equip them with enough examples and cases of Storytelling as well as for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in a manner that they are able to retain the information and put it in perspective since Design Thinking is a complex subject and is largely misrepresented. We trained them in various approaches to Design Thinking, and especially sensitized and trained them in the toughest field of empathetic thinking, since that is what most UX Designers in India lack. Being a practitioner and trainer of UX Design and Design Thinking since 2014, I feel responsible for the state of UIUX Design in India. Despite our best efforts, a large swathe of Industry as well as trainers are unaware of the possibilities of UX Design and think about it as a burden. We are doing our best to rectify the situation by giving great manpower to the starved Software Industry in India.” He quipped, “Don’t worry all this would be part of my upcoming book – SOLVXD: Think in Steps – that would be coming out soon.

Neelu Kapoor (Indiaskills Graphic Design Technology Jury) and Founder SXILL mentioned, “This was the third time Chandigarh Design School tendered a Faculty Development Program at Pune University. Earlier we have done programs for Thapar University, Chitkara University, GNDU, Panjab University among others. We are also doing international Programs in Design Thinking with leading institutions abroad. We are aware that training a faculty is much more important as it can directly impact the lives of 1000s of students.”
