SXILL Founder lauded for exemplary work in Worldskills International Invitational Competition in China

Chandigarh Design School (India’s only accredited NSDC certification provider in UI UX Design) Founder and SXILL Founder Vineet Raj Kapoor was part of the Worldskills International (Shenzhen) Invitational Competition at China. He was lauded for the exemplary work done by him in Worldskills International Invitational Competition in China.

International (Shenzhen) Invitational Competition is part of the preparation for Worldskills that is being held in September 2024 at Lyon France.

Founded in 1950, WorldSkills is the global hub for skills excellence and development. WorldSkills brings youth, industries, and educators together to give youth the chance to compete, experience, and learn how to become the best in their skill of choice. From the traditional trades to multi-skilled technology careers in the industry and service sectors, supported by partners, industries, governments, volunteers, and educational institutions, WorldSkills’ vision is to improve the world through the power of skills. It has 85 member countries and regions, all working with youth, educators, governments, and industries to help prepare the workforce and talent of today for the jobs of the future.

IndiaSkills 2023 National Competition was held from 16-18 May 2024 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. Participants from 26 states/ union territories displayed their talent in 54 skills such as design, graphics, beauty therapy, cyber security, floristry robot system integration, cloud computing, water technology, painting and decorating, health and social care, among others. The candidates will compete against more than 1,400 participants from over 60 countries competing in 63 skills. A biennial competition, WorldSkills Competition has become popular over the years and is a global hub for skill excellence, bringing together skilled youth of diverse backgrounds and nations.

IndiaSkills Competition is organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), an apex skill development organisation working under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). IndiaSkills, the country’s biggest skill competition, is designed to demonstrate the highest standards of skilling and offers a platform to young people to showcase their talent at national and international levels. IndiaSkills Competition—regional and national—is held every two years with the support of state governments, industry, Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs), corporates and partner institutes. IndiaSkills Competition has the potential to reach the grassroot level and make an impact.

Worldskills 2024 would take place at Lyon, France from 10-15 September 2024. India is sending a contingent of about 60 candidates and 50 experts to compete for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. This contingent would be attending a farewell at Delhi on 3 September.

Speaking on the success, the SXILL Founder Vineet Raj Kapoor, and National Jury and Expert (Industrial Design) for Worldskills said “I am thankful to MESC India for providing me the opportunity to serve the country as Skill Competition Manager and Chief Expert (India) for IDT, and finally as India’s Expert for Industrial Design Technology at Worldskills, Lyon, France in September 2024”.

Neelu Kapoor shared, “At SXILL the Students have the opportunity to choose from a range of skills including Graphic Design, Film Making, UI/UX Design, Animation, 3D Modelling, Digital Marketing, and a chance for upward mobility through upskilling for top performers. The programme facilitates seamless transitions between skills, giving students unmatched flexibility to shape their career direction as their careers progress. After providing our expertise in animation to faculty and students in leading colleges like Thapar University, DY Patil, PEC, Chitkara, Panjab University, GNDU etc., we have now opened it to students from all institutes. We have trained students from NID, MIT and other institutes for Government Skill Councils and Missions under Skill India. We are also conducting programs in Design Thinking with leading international institutes abroad”.

Chief Expert at Indiaskills Nationals, Yashobhoomi, New Delhi

On invitation from NSDC and MESC, for Indiaskills, Vineet Raj Kapoor (Founder Chandigarh Design School), is nominated as Skill Competition Manager and Chief Expert in Industrial Design Technology for Indiaskills Nationals 2024 held from 16-18 May 2024. He is responsible to oversee the selection of candidates to select the candidate representation from India for the Worldskills 2024, Lyons, France. The event takes place at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. Experts from across the country would be part of the Skill Management Team. The Jury included Mr. Karthik from Autodesk, Dr. Ravindra Singh from Delhi Technical University, Mr. Vikash Kumar from Shiv Nadar University, and Raunaq Dua from Curiosity 3D.

The Inauguration took place at the Convention Hall at Yashobhoomi on 15 May 2024. The competition commenced on 16 May till 18 May 2024. The Event culminated with the Closing ceremony on 19 May 2024. The Winner would represent India at Worldskills France in September 2024.

Indian IDT Expert Vineet Raj Kapoor selected Expert Lead for Worldskills Skill Management Team.

Chandigarh Design School Founder, and SXILL Cofounder Vineet Raj Kapoor is India’s Worldskills Expert for Industrial Design Technology. Vineet Raj Kapoor was selected as India’s Expert in 2022 and had selected and trained India’s Competitors for the Worldskills 2023. These competitors came from NID Ahmedabad, MIT Pune and other colleges of India.

He continues to help Indiaskills find India’s best design talents in IDT, by helping design and conduct tests as well as train students.

He has been selected to be a part of the Worlskills Skill Management Team for IDT. The Skill Management Team is formed of select experts from different nations, and they collaborate to work towards having a successful Worldskills competition. They are involved in various aspect of the conduction of the Skill Competition. The current Skill Management Team in Worldskills IDT consists of Experts from China, Taiwan, Korea and India.

Applauding his achievement SXILL Founder Neelu Kapoor mentioned, “Vineet’s zeal to work with students is unbeatable. He is able to get to their level and simplify things. The candidates trained by him performed exceptionally well in Indian and International Competitions. I am confident that he would help India finish on the podium at Worldskills 2024 at France.”

“Whether I work with my own students or the top students of India nominated by the government, my training methodology remains the same. Help students understand how they are going to be judged and they develop them to maximize they response to each aspect of every criterion of judgement. There is no space to lose even a single point in international competition, since they are about the process, and the students who stick to the basics emerge at the top.” Said Vineet Raj Kapoor, when asked about the competition preparation. “Right now we are busy with scouting the best talent of India.”

WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is set to take place 10-15 September 2024, following the postponement of the 46th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. France won the bid to host the 47th WorldSkills Competition at WorldSkills General Assembly 2019 in Kazan, Russia.
It is the second time for France and Lyon to be the host in the history of the international championship. The 33rd WorldSkills Competition previously took place in 1995 at EUREXPO Lyon, the same venue that will now host WorldSkills Lyon 2024.
WorldSkills Competition Lyon 2024 is a strong commitment to youth and their future which generates unprecedented international mobilization around skills, competences and excellence.
Despite the one-year postponement of the competition due to the pandemic, the plan to host the global competition remains the same: to inspire young people in skills, promote skills and change the perception on vocational education and training.
WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is also a national project centered around the regions, in particular the Metropolis of Lyon. It will be THE springboard and catalyst to develop and promote professional training adapted to current and future needs in terms of employment.
The competition and Team WorldSkills France, which both are a result of the mobilization of regions and the commitment of partners to WorldSkills France, are the first vectors of inspiration for young people and a tangible proof for the next generations of the relevance of skills and competences in a career and personal life with high potential.

He briefed the student on how decision making permeates all careers and would be a useful addition to any worthwhile career.

Thereafter the students asked about various careers in their mind right from mimicry to storywriting to animation to UX design and got clear roadmaps as well as advice to make a success of their dreams through examples behind the success stories of Steve Jobs, and other leaders.

Chandigarh Design School Founder conducts Course at Thapar University

Chandigarh Design School has started a course at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) also known as Thapar University on the subject “Creative Thinking for Professional Success”. This subject would run for the complete semester as is an optional course for students across all branches and years. This makes it one of the most important options for students wanted to rein in their creativity for benefit. During this class Vineet Raj Kapoor (Indian IDT Expert Worldskills, and Founder Chandigarh Design School) shared, “Creativity is not the right of an individual but a practice of a patient individual”. He comments that anyone with the patience, grit and determination can rein in their creativity. This is the first collaboration between Thapar University and Chandigarh Design School (powered by SXILL).

Chandigarh Design School Founder speaks at Peruvanam International Film Festival at Kerala

Chandigarh Design School founder Vineet Raj Kapoor was invited by PIVF Organising Committee to join the Panel Discussion on “The Possibilities in Media” at Peruvanam International Film Festival at Thrissur, Kerela. The Festival was held from 5-7 January 2024.

Chandigarh Design School founder Vineet Raj Kapoor was invited by PIVF Organising Committee to join the Panel Discussion on “The Possibilities in Media” at Peruvanam International Film Festival at Thrissur, Kerela. The Festival was held from 5-7 January 2024.

The Event was Hosted by Praveen Paramesawar. Vineet Raj Kapoor (Indian IDT Expert Worldskills, and Founder Chandigarh Design School) shared the dias with Ashish Kulkarni (Founder Punnaryug), Mohit Soni (CEO, MESC), Hanif Mohammad Marakkarackayil (Founder Asian School of Design), Sarath Bhooshan (CEO, Bhooshan’s Jr), Philip Thomas (Country Head, World Design Council), and Shajan Kumar (Dean, Mathrubhumi Media School).

Various aspects discussed including the gap between the Industry and the Academia, the impact of AI, how technology impacts art et al. Commenting on the impact of Technology, Vineet shared, “Technology is created in an answer to the gaps, so it is never art that is catching up, but it is technology. Art in it’s zest jumps ahead creating gaps just like the Mendeleev’s table, and it is for us, to find the technology that can meet the expectations and fill the gaps.

Commenting on AI, Vineet said, “AI is not capable of thinking ahead. It is instead a good servant who can do repetitive tasks with the accuracy unknown to man. However, it is incapable of decisions.”
